This is a project realized for ‘Storybox: Tale of Absence, ‘What ifs’ and ‘Salvation’ an exhibition of new works inspired by the archives of Wilton’s Music Hall.
Wilton’s collection contains hints and clues to not just the history of the building and its environment, but to the many fascinating people who walked the hallways of the world’s oldest grand music hall.
What inspired the artist in the creation of this project are three photographs found in the archive: Wilton’s Auditorium, the Danish Girl set, and The Great Belzoni play. Those reminded the artist of the adrenaline she had while on stage before and during her dance show.
Watching this archive material Ilaria revoke her dream as a teenager: become a dance choreographer, so what could be better than take the chance and create a performance at Wilton’s Music Hall?
To do so, she needed some dancers. She decided to create them by combining small bits using the digital collage technique.
Mikal, Tisha, Mariah, Koba, and Max are the performers of the Moving Bit crew that bring life thanks to the animation. Ilaria could finally realize her dream and stage her first show at Wilton’s Music Hall.
